X-Treme X-250 vs Razor Scooter E300S/E325S

I Like! It is difficult to miss Razor while shopping for your next electric motor scooter.  There is no doubt that this goliath of the scooter industry manufactures great products.  However, another less visible manufacturer has proven themselves a worthy adversary, X-Treme Scooters.  Browse a few scooter websites and you will see what I am talking about.  Truth be known, X-Treme has been producing scooters for nearly as long as Razor (X-Treme in May, 2001 and Razor in 2000).  So how does our David (X-Treme) stack up against the favored and larger Goliath?  Let's take a look:

We have compiled a list of important specifications when considering your electrical scooter. This week we are compa ring the Razor E300S/E325S and the X-Treme X-250 which both offer similar advantages.

So why are the listed specifications important? Let’s take a look:

  • MSRP – This is the manufacturers standard pricing. Usually you’ll be paying less and should pay no more than the MSRP.
  • Weight Limit – How much weight can you place on the scooter without stressing the vehicle? If you’re too many burritos heavier than the listed capacity, expect some deficiencies in your ride.
  • Motor – Determines power. The higher this figure the more speed it can produce (though other factors like weight will affect your speed.)
  • Battery Charge Time – How long it will take to charge your scooter.
  • Usage Before Charge – How long can you ride before you need to recharge.
  • Product Weight – How heavy the individual scooter weighs. If you have kids or will have to carry you scooter you may desire a less weighty option.
  • Top Speed – The speed at which the scooter has the ability to go under its own power. This is highly variable, depending on weight, terrain and whether or not the wind is in your favor.
  • Removable Seat – If you prefer to sit, it’s a nice option especially if it’s removable.
  • Foldable – The foldable option is appreciated for storage especially by students when stuffing their scooter along classroom walls.
  • Warranty – Usually normal wear is not covered under the base warranty (tires, tears, tubes). However, each manufacturer has their own policy, consult their website for information.

Depending on what you’re looking for (speed, esthetics, cost, etc.) you can draw your own conclusions. The X-Treme 250 offers a lower price but the extended warranty on the Razor maybe more appealing. Whatever your choice, rest assured that neither David nor Goliath will let you down.
